Superbly painted as always Alan

I am really enjoying this latest series of "rigger and ink", or is that rigour and think. Excellent

Another super example of yout ink and watercolour sketching skills. Nice compo, looking towards the church tower. Again reminiscent of Edward Wesson's approach to this sort of subject (a compliment by the way). Look forward to seeing your article (always after a few tips)!

Very nice Alan, you have produced a lovely set of paintings as usual.

Another beauty Alan. Such a confident way of painting you have :)

What appeals to me most is the way you have used the blue in such a restrained and balanced way

Fab-u-lous darling!! How convenient of that chap and his dog to be in the right place!

There's a great feeling of Autumnal sunshine in this - it really picks up the warmth of the stone, and as someone else said - ah, Michael Edwards: and he's a man who knows - the restrained use of the blues adds so much to the picture, helping to provide that element of cool to counteract the rich red-browns and blacks.

Its lovely work Alan , I may give this a go I used to do a fair bit of line and wash a long time ago and you've given me food for thought thanks for the heads up in the online bonus will keep an eye out for it . Happily I've sold all my panoramas to the gallery and they're all going into limited edition prints , it's an interesting format I may do more .

You have really got that solid structure feel about all the elements in this piece Alan.

Lovely job Alan as always

Beautifully detailed Alan, lovely work.

I look forward to seeing the book!

You are never too old!

Couldn't be better Alan, majestic!

Another gem. Really enjoy the warmth you get into the old stones every time.

Yes scale and evidence of life is essential to me Alan and this work is top class, but it is you.

Only a couple of these left now from last weeks local outings, usual MO, straight in with a rigger and ink, always looking to achieve some strong tonal values which to me is so important. For those of you who have expressed an interest in seeing how I approach these small sketches, have a look at the online bonus feature due out next week where you can see a work in progress. The chap and his dog just happened to be standing at the entrance for a few seconds so I managed to pop them in just to give scale.
