I was always rather nervous of horses and ponies; even of donkeys; my father loved all of them, but I tended to stand well back, until, when I was on a walk, a horse galloped over to me and insisted on having his muzzle scratched; your painting has brought that back, for which I have to thank you: you have so well captured the bond between horse, or in this case pony I think?, and human.

Thanks for your comments everyone, especially from Robert Jones, it's interesting how sometimes a certain picture can trigger a memory from childhood. It's nice to know that this one did just that. Thanks Robert for sharing your memory.
