Not an easy subject Adele but you have made a great job of it.

Lovely, and you caught the light in his eye. Like those colours on the bird.

The bird is very well painted Adele so let's forget about the tree and branches.

Who's looking at the tree.....a bird from my favourite group of birds, corvids. Very clever and very knowing! You've caught the range of colours in it's plumage perfectly Adele.

Well the bird is beautifully painted Adele.

Adele just amazing as ever

Thanks everyone. I will gladly forget the tree! Fiona, you are a mine of information. I hadn't even heard the word "corvids" - will have to look it up to see what other birds are in that group.

Just read your profile and power to you Adele. What a great attitude.

Thank you very much Paul.

love this Adele I love magpies and crows im off into countryside tomorrow all the food for the magpies is in the boot ready

Beautiful colouring on the plumage, Adele, and the detail in the eye and beak really bring it to life. (I also like the tree trunk!)

A lovely rendition of this beautiful bird. The eye is great and I love the colours in the tail feathers.

Wonderful colours you have captured in the feathers Adele they look luminescent.

Great shape to magpie Adele and the iridescence on back feathers. They do get a bad press , but like all the crow family I like them, Naughty , cheeky. One for sorrow????

Bird looks great, and the background understated and spot on. The tree doesn't detract from this painting. Very nice.

Thank you Dennis, Jenny, Peter, Carole, Gudrun, Sylvia and Andre. I did think of that superstition Sylvia but was suffering from Magpie exhaustion are painting that lone one!

Love the movement you have generated within the painting. Well done Adele.

Beautifully composed and painted, Adele. I rather like your treatment of the tree - the abstraction of the shape helps to highlight the bird beautifully. It's a lovely piece.

Thank you Carole and Seok.

Oil on board - Always thought Magpies were black and white until I saw this picture - can't remember where now as it was so long ago. Never really liked the tree and the branches look awful. If I was painting it now I would definitely change it.

About the Artist
