Excellent. Keep up the good work and keep warm.

I like the composition and the colours, particularly in the snow, make the whole thing work well

i really like this - seems to me in the best tradition of modern impressionists, guys like Herman Ferkel (not sure of the surname?) and Peter Fiore spring to my mind here. Did you get that rust colour in the tree behind and to the left of the stranded van with orange or raw sienna with crimzon alizarin? not that you have to reveal your secrets of course!

Thanks Andrew- that colour was a mixture of Terra Rosa, Cadmium Yellow and a bit of Yellow Orche. I love Peter Fiore and I'll have to check up Herman Ferkel.

Thanks Slyvia and Avril!

It's times like this that make me wish I were younger, since there is just absolutely no way in the world that I'm going to drag my arthritic bones out into the snow to paint! Of course, the advantages of plein aire work are obvious from this, the immediacy and freshness of the paint and the structure of the scene benefit so much. One point: I see a lot of snow paintings in which the shadows are shown in cerulean blue - observing it over the last couple of days, I see that in reality the shadows tend much more towards violet: and you've shown this in your painting, which is one of many reasons why it works so well.

Thanks Robert- You are spot on with your observations-I looked and that was what I saw. It may vary from day to day but on this very day it was tending towards violet.

My kind of oil painting. You have captured this scene and garnered something special from the mundane; it is delightful. Regards and thank you Adebanji . John
