Lovely colour and rich texture Abraham - I've just started using a palette knife, really enjoyed it and the painting is turning out better than I hoped - but it uses such a lot of paint compared to more traditional brush style and drying time is somewhat longer. You could title it "Fisherman" or "No fish today" (because I can't see any) or simply "fishing net" or "waiting for the fish" "here's hoping" "fishing for supper".....the list is endless. Nevertheless, it's the painting that counts and you've caught a good one!

Thank you Pat for your kind comments and the excellent suggestions. I like the one "no fish today". I would love to see your palette knife works. Any links?

If you browse the portfolios and enter 2011 OILS or just OILS, my paintings should come up probably with a painting of tulips. There are only a few paintings on the portfolio because I haven't been painting in oils very long. I used to do watercolours, but I prefer oils now because I'm a less nervous painer when I know I can later overpaint!! I'll upload the palette knife painting (it's of silver birch trees) when I finish it this weekend.

Another lovely piece. I really like your rendering of the waves, and as usual, your palette is beautiful.

I agree with Pat and Seok, lovely painting

Thank you Seok and Petra for your kind comments.

Man with Fishing Net Oil colors on canvas done with painting (or palette) knives, 2011, 100x80 cm. It is advisable to view this painting under "View Full Size" in order to capture the 3D-like texture. The digital photo is taken outside around 12:30 pm. I might reload the painting under different illumination to capture the richness of colors and texture. Any ideas for another title?
