Lake of Galilee

Lake of Galilee

This is not "realistic" colour, and yet it conveys a very strong sense of place. Beautiful work.

Thank you Robert for your kind comments. I usually don't use what we call "realistic colors". So the sky is no "blue", the trees are not "green" etc etc. This make the paintings more interesting, or that's what I think.

This is very exciting, the brush work brings lots of energy to the painting, it reminds me of Van Gogh. I read somewhere that Van Gogh developed a sense of how colour can be intensified by placing complimentaries side by side: "No blue without yellow and without orange." I think you make the point with this painting.

Thank you Angela for your kind words. Indeed I try to make this point in this painting. Please note that there is no "brush work" here but the entire painting is "sculpted" with painting/palete knives of different sizes.

Great knife painting with plenty of atmosphere. I particularly like the rendering of the shadows from the trees!

Thank you Roger for your very kind comment.

I like this because there is no blandness about your painting ,I dont paint in oils .but this is the way I would go if I did ...It takes you eye ,and says look at me / great .

I like the juxtaposition of your palette knife work giving an intense pure light - typically Meditteranean. I lived in Northern Galilee for a year in my youth and know this region well.

WOW.. Thank you Alan and Ronald for your very kind compliments.
