Despair, Marjorie, not appropriate at all.
I have known despair - I have wanted to attack a painting of mine with knives and fire: but in oil and acrylic, you can ALWAYS bring it round - watercolour maybe not so much, though there are ways. This is looking good to me - and if I know you can make it work, so should you (so there! Be told!).

PS - now, disregard this if not appropriate; your painting, not mine. But, stepping on thin ice - if I were your guide and mentor, I'd say at this point - don't over-complicate it: putting things in can completely resolve a painting problem until the fatal moment when you put too much in. Approach slowly and carefully at this point, or you will fiddle with it -- fiddling, to me, doesn't mean adding necessary features, but obsessing with detail and losing sight of the whole.
I shall say no more for fear of interfering.

Your painting is going fine Marjorie. I don’t know what you are worried about. My glasses are varifocals. I have the most expensive version (platinum). I have to, because my balance is terrible with or without glasses. I depend on seeing uprights for me to stay upright. So I don’t have problems on stairs, but I do always hang onto the handrail.

Good point made by Alan I had a paint on the go so content with it , until this morning added two birds and trashed the scene, can’t remove them unfortunately. I know your very experienced but it can get us all when we are doing our best for some else.
I recall a old (well I was younger at the time ) chat telling me it what you leave out that counts. This is looking so good , I’m sure her memories of it will fill any gaps.
