Well I can beat all of you.  Virtually no sight in one eye ,wear one contact lens,  still need readers so have a mass amount bought on Amazon scattered all over the house . Sad thing is I can often not find them cos I can’t see them…..though still drive legally .  It’s when I have a pair on my head, wearing a pair and  still try to stuff another pair on.   Hence my avatar…..eye, eye.

Good one Sylvia! You sound like my hubby who has numerous pairs of specs hanging around, several years prescriptions and a few off the peg for good measure. Usually looking for a pair he can’t find! 😖
I have a good tip for eating meals when you haven’t got your reading glasses on…..I arrange my food around the plate like a clock, so I know where everything is! It works!
Clever stuff Marjorie. Compliments on your skill and patience. I'm sure it will be a masterpiece.

Thanks for your confidence, Jim😁 but I’m struggling at the moment so am having time out from it. I want to change the light source so need to think about it. Re glasses, my husband tells me I have varifocals not bifocals. What do I know? I only wear them ( when I can find them).

I see ,Marjorie .
Hi I have varifocals now.  However, I can only do small art  things with varifocals.  The perspective goes awry otherwise as I can't see enough in one go.  For larger works I have to use my contact lenses and enormous reading glasses.  Which was the snooker player that had glasses made for him?  I think once I can't wear contact lenses I might have to go for some 'occupational bifocals' bottle tops as I am very short sighted.  It is a bit of a pain.
Dennis Taylor was the snooker player, I think. Yes, varifocals are good for covering a general field of visual problems, but they have their limitations - I don't do much large work, partly because of the eyesight - I too am a "high myope" - and partly because the old arms and shoulders give out too soon: there you are, mid-flow, and "aargh!  Hello, cervical spondylosis...". If I were still trying to sell on a regular basis - and I gave up doing that quite a while ago - I would (if I had the money) get special glasses made: I don't think it would be easy; I DO think it would be expensive; but I also think it would be worth doing (and possibly reclaimable against tax?).  Given they'd need to be tailor-made, as all eye problems differ in their effect, the cost would be related to the time and expertise of a really good optometrist.  So probably a thousand or two.  But for a professional artist, it'd be worth it.   For me, the lenses would have to be able to accommodate near work while keeping the ability to see the whole - sort of reading-glasses Plus ... I wonder if there's anyone who specializes in this?
I have ‘occupational’ lenses, which are a bit like varifocals or bifocals I guess. I initially got them when I worked in an office, as reading at computer distance, then reading at regular reading distance was becoming a problem swapping glasses over. I’m not in an office anymore, but I have continued with this lens type, and for me it’s perfect for painting (indoors). Further than ‘office computer’ distance would be impossible though!
So far….I keep adjusting and changing. Little dog is going to be on the chair but may alter position. This is a friend’s dresser which she can’t take with her when she moves house. I have to say that I had to “ grab” a photo so that I could pick out objects. 80cmx80cm . A fair bit more to do, I alternate between despair and hope🤨

I think hope is winning Marjorie .   It’s coming along beautifully .  But rather you than me.
