It’s looking really good, I only work in watercolours but think it relevant for oils , the colours of the field look fine . If I was painting this however, I would darken the hedgerow bottoms to reflect the dark areas at the bottom and suggest depth much the same as you have with the trees . It doesn’t have to be very dark just a little darker than it looks now, this is however only a suggestion , and reflects my way of working.

Progressing nicely Rachel, a tricky subject indeed, but looking very good…
No issues with the foreground shadow, it’s needed in fact and I’d go a few shades darker in fact.
Much darker tones on both left and in right trees, towards the base obviously. Knock out the lighter line on the hedge, on LH side particularly, and break up the base of the hedge by incorporating it with the field…in places… there are too many horizontal lines in the foreground.
There we go then, that’s my input for what it’s worth!

I've been 'off' today, various issues from bathroom taps to DX couriers saying they've delivered a package when they haven't - isn't life grand ... you had good advice about your painting, and the second version is a big improvement on the first, though you did get your teeth into a really difficult piece of work, and I don't think I can add to it; being me, I'd just adjust the windows ... i.e. niggle away at the detail, square up the chimnies, add little finials if they're there. But it's the light and shade that really matters, not the fiddling.

Oh dear Robert!!
Yes I understand about taps/ couriers and the detail of life!!
Thank you for your advice - it’s so helpful- it was a good exercise to tackle something requiring accurate drawing etc, but great to get some tips on improvements!
Take care and hope all has righted itself now for you.
