Hang on Studio Wall
Message
Working on this. Amended the house on the left as perspective not right. Maybe needs another tweak. Also added a bit of warmth. Does it need more warmth?
I think a touch of a warm colour somewhere in a snow scene always adds that extra touch. You could have fun deciding where.
I’d be tempted to block in the left house completely, those windows aren’t doing anything for the composition in my opinion… and yes, the perspective of the lower windows in particular isn’t right. Looking at it again, and I would definitely block them out, they distract if anything. Make a bit more of that foreground wall, put that in perspective so that it will lead you into the picture - in fact you’ve done it with the right hand wall… Nothing dramatic, you’ve done a good job, but a few little tweaks here and there will improve it! You could warm up the nearest shed structure a touch, in fact I think I would… Snow isn’t white, we all know that, and you’ve broken the colour up in places, but not enough…it picks up colour from its surroundings. Have a think about that one!

Hi I decide to try and salvage the house in the end  not sure it’s the right decision  I think the angles are better  the windows are a bit weird in real life as they are level with each other. It’s a house with an extension!  It’s a local house - hence keeping it in as the picture wouldn’t have made much sense without it but….I have added some warmth  happy to receive further comments  and to make more changes!

I think you’ve improved it with those touches of warmth, Karen - in the sky and the edges of the snow. The lighter colour of the buildings works well too. Perspective is fine - we’re not getting out our rulers for the vanishing point, I’m more interested in the overall effect which gives the feel of soft snow and a temperature which is warmer than in your previous stage. Leave it now I’d say.
It’s really good, don’t be tempted to fiddle with I or it will be overworked, pop in on the gallery you should get a good reaction.
I’m in agreement here, a few tweaks but it was all that was needed…
Thanks everyone for taking the time to comment and share your expertise. Your comments have all been really helpful. I shall do as you say and leave it alone now!
Well I missed all this!  Happily, you got excellent advice anyway - I liked the cold look of the original, but: that's my chilly nature!  The improvements you've made really work, I like your twiggy trees, and the work you've done on the sky, which has added the element of movement that wasn't quite there in the original.  Always good to see people benefiting from advice given.
Oh! This is so lovely! I'm glad you added in a bit of warmth to the paintings.. and changed the colour of the house to the left! Great work!.
