Thank you Sandra and Kenneth.
Most of the detail in now, with more attention to shadows and depth of tone. Pretty pleased with progress.
(Haven't put the plaque above the pediment yet, as this has the name of the location, and I'm having a 'guess the location' challenge on my socials, so I'll add that eventually).
Initially thought I wanted to add colour to the door, as part of my single colour series, but the doors are currently actually white...darn...several years ago they were red. Toying with the idea of adding the red sandstone colour to some of the door surrounds and upper carvings...not sure yet.

Gerry, you should be very pleased with your brilliantly detailed sketching. Just my opinion so ignore it if you want, but personally I'd put the red sandstone colour on the doors themselves rather than the surrounds, to go with your door series. The doors were red once you say, I wouldn't worry that they are white now. Over to you of course.

Thank you Sandra. I probably will colour the doors...I need to remember my original intentions for setting out to do a single colour series. I become so intent on capturing the beauty of real places that I need a jolt to remember I am also creating pieces of art and that the end result is in my control and doesn't always have to be a snapshot of reality. Thank you. I'll post a finished result when I'm there.
