I have done a bit more today but like most people in struggling with the heat, it seems to sap the energy and will to paint out of me. It at this stage that I look  at the paint and think to myself , this isn’t going to work I do this with every painting I do.  Once I start putting in the final touches it seem to suddenly come together, well plan . I take a series of photos on my iPad and look at then while having a cuppa and before staring again ,the close ups give the the info about where I need to correct anything or put in more detail etc. I find taking a couple of distant shots give me the chance to see what I Would look  like if it was wall mounted. If I decide to use the photos at a workshop I put the finished painting on display and have the process on a loop running on the laptop , participants have always said they find this interesting .
I feel for you as far as motivation goes Paul…it’s hard to carry on when you’re not feeling the love isn’t it? But you’re doing an amazing job on this one, it’s coming together so well! The way you’re handling the rusty metal is really top notch.

Thanks Anth , that was a real moral booster. Like you old trucks etc are a passion I’m featuring a artist in the Bonus artist next weekend who I believe is the tops . It’s not just his trucks its the whole setting it in. You will have to have look it would be interesting to get your opinion of his work.
I’ll keep an eye out for that!
I have done a little more , I have gone off the boil with this one instead of forcing myself to finish it I will leave it for a couple of days and get back to it . Hopefully I will pick up and get the little bit of detail etc to make a half decent job.
Looking good Paul..no point in pushing it if you're not in the mood. I'd be happy with it as it is...
Best way - forcing a painting nearly always leaves us disappointed with the result.  Best to take a break, or even start another picture on easel Number 2!  And I do wish I could learn to follow my own advice.
Thank you Bari and Robert . I think I will take your advice Robert and work on another painting I have just sitting there as it was put aside two weeks ago . I’m sure the heat is having a detrimental effect I don’t know about anyone else but I feel quite tired most of the time  at the moment despite all health check being  fine.  The heat and age I suppose is not a great combination when we are not used to it that’s my excuse anyway.
You're not alone - I missed a meeting online the other day, not that I particularly wanted to attend it, but dropping off to sleep at my desk - I've been doing more and more of that, and while I know my blood pressure is higher than it ought to be, which probably doesn't help, I'm sure the hotter weather - and rather poor air quality - is doing me in good and proper (that, and getting old...).  I know one thing about global climate change - if it gets much worse, it's going to be Goodnight Vienna for some of us...   Not that I wish to depress anyone.....
