Hi all, this one’s been hovering about for a while as a Photoshop comp but thought I’d get it transferred to board and paint the background, then jump back onto the green Mustang while it’s drying. Paul, a friend from my Mustang days, asked me to paint his two fast Fords, so I took some separate images and put them together against a beautiful sunset. Here’s how it looks so far: Hope to get the background in colour tonight/tomorrow morning. Cheers, Anth
Got a start on the Sky, needs some highlights adding once it’s dry:
The rough plan was to block the sky and background in and let it dry whilst working on other things - but couldn’t resist getting the lighthouse in to see how it sat: It’s convinced me that the sky’s not a million miles off, so was worth doing.
More work on the sky and lighthouse, and blocked the water and skyline in :
Got the lighthouse and water finished this afternoon, going to get the tarmac in tonight then swap back to the Mustang I’m on with :)

I do like it when a painting goes well!  You draw yours out carefully from the outset, I usually don't - perhaps I should, given a struggle I'm having currently!
Cheers Robert! I do think drawing accuracy depends on subject matter - balloon tyres and egg-shaped wheels, and screwy perspective, don’t work for my painting style. As usual, ‘each to their own’ statement applies 👍

Pausing on this one for a while to finish the green Mustang elsewhere in the WIPs - background finished and flat black areas of both cars done.
Started to get some of the Sky reflections in on the Escort - wasn’t sure whether this would look too saturated but think it’s working ok so far:
Looking so good Anthony, wish my car had as good a paint job.
Same here! Contemplating doing my Pontiac black but going to have to shift a few paintings before that happens 😁
