Trying to create a well worn look in watercolour A4 of an old cart seen at Beamish. Stephen Kelly
The out line looks  good and the dark background should make it stand out, I’m looking forward to some colours on the cart so that I can get an idea what it looks like. I tend to leave the background till later in the development process, but each to their own.
Looking forward to seeing this one progress, I love Beamish! Always meant to have a crack at the stagecoach partly submerged in one of the fields.
Progressing with the old cart and as you can see, I tend to paint from one side to the other. I also masked out the metalwork, it allows a little more freedom. Not purist but that's how I paint.
Great to see how you work Stephen look forward to your progression. Remember going to Beamish with my son's school outing in the 70s, it's a great place to visit, we also stayed at Beamish hall 3 years ago at a family wedding.
I don't use masking myself, but that has nothing to do with being a purist - I just don't like the stuff.  Nothing wrong with using it if it helps.  Looking forward to seeing where this goes, but it's looking good so far.
Your work so far looks great Stephen.
Stage 3 Quite fiddly but have got this far so better carry on.

Fascinating.
Looking so good, will be a great painting when finished.
Nearly there, you can tell I'm not getting out much lately.
Fantastic!!
