The out line looks good and the dark background should make it stand out, I’m looking forward to some colours on the cart so that I can get an idea what it looks like. I tend to leave the background till later in the development process, but each to their own.
Progressing with the old cart and as you can see, I tend to paint from one side to the other. I also masked out the metalwork, it allows a little more freedom. Not purist but that's how I paint.
Great to see how you work Stephen look forward to your progression. Remember going to Beamish with my son's school outing in the 70s, it's a great place to visit, we also stayed at Beamish hall 3 years ago at a family wedding.
I don't use masking myself, but that has nothing to do with being a purist - I just don't like the stuff. Nothing wrong with using it if it helps. Looking forward to seeing where this goes, but it's looking good so far.
