Hi this is my second go at painting this. I’m already not happy with the right hand side of the bridge and I’m not convinced that I’m doing things in the right order. All comments are very welcome. This is oil on canvas board 30 cm x 30 cm. Look forward to your comments.
I actually prefer the second one down, you may have fallen into the trap of overworking your painting, and it’s easily done! So why do I prefer it? For starters, that gorgeous light showing through the arch of the bridge has gone in pic 3… The sky part with the trees is much simpler in pic 2. Some won’t agree with me, but that was my immediate impression.  I’m a bit confused about why the blue tree! It just looks out of place somehow… Good job though generally, but these were my initial observations!
I do agree Alan. The blue tree jumps out at you, but if it is finished in colours better reflected in the rest of the scene, that would certainly help. Apart from that, it’s a lovely scene and I really like the shape of the bridge, and the sweep of the curved bank on the right.
I also agree with Alan and Tessa it’s lovely scene and the details on the bridge are very good. Sort out the blue tree and add a few highlights on the water and make some of the look like ripples to suggest slight movement by a breeze or something . It real almost done so don’t be down hearted at the comments and suggestions, we often don’t see the obvious in our own work.
The comments are there as advice Teresa, not as criticism in any way… we don’t do that on this site. We all see things differently, which is no bad thing… I am just as critical of my own work at times!
I can agree with all of that as well!
I can't "read" that blue area on the left - I thought it was water at first; now I see others see it as a tree - that needs sorting out, but there are some very good touches in the rest of the painting.  Give it time, work slowly and thoughtfully, and if you find yourself getting stuck, put it away where you can't see it and don't have to keep looking at it for a day or two: a fresh look can help enormously.   Of course I echo the point about criticism; we comment to help, not to pull people down.
I also thought, like Robert, that the blue on the left was water - I believe there are several waterfalls in that area. And like Tessa, I do like the shape of the bridge and the sweep of the curved bank on the right.

I like it, but you need to do something with the blue area on the left and you could do with putting a wave or two on the water to define it. It has real potential though!
Thank you all for your comments and I really do appreciate the advice. This is todays update, all comments welcome
I like that a lot better: it didn't really look finished before - keep at it, the more you do, the more you learn: and that's true however long you've been painting.
Wow what a difference, it look really good so nice to see it after taking the advice offered. No matter how long you psint for there is still something new to learn and the most important thing is to get advice when you need it . What is really appreciated is coming back with the final results and sharing what you have learnt and used to such a good effect.
