Certainly don't bin it - can't add to the suggestions made: I know what I'd do .... which is to introduce just a few accents of stronger dark in the foreground in order to add to the depth; but whether that would actually work or not is something else again. I suspect if you put it away for a couple of days, then come back and give it a hard stare, the answer will hit you.
