An idea I had this morning and am now trying to realise on canvas. I want to go from the surface to the very bottom of the ocean.  Depicting different sea life at the various levels.  Just finished the background.
That sound interesting Carrie, what is the size of your canvas it look quite big. Hope your going to show us the developing painting , be nice to see the various stages .
Fabulous, Carrie; this is great! Love and God bless, Andy x
Looking forward to seeing the stages Carrie..
Great Idea Carrie. Like the background.
Thanks all.  The canvas is 40x100cm so fairly large, it doesn't quite fit on my desk easel so that has been a bit of a challenge. I have started to add in some of the elements with white pencil, or Prussian blue paint if they are further in the distance.  So far I have added some initial elements, including a titanic explorer who is about to realise they got more than they bargained for, and a face off between a shark and what will be a group of angel fish.  Many many more elements to be added, but I am having so much fun painting this :)
The shipwreck is now in place :)
I've totally lost this painting, and its now nothing like how I imagined it to be.  Whereas it was going to be about sea life, it has very much taken on an adventure feel, so I am going to go with that and add a skeleton, maybe a treasure chest, but a little disappointed that it didn't work out how I hoped.

It’s so frustrating when that happens , I think it’s happened to most people at some stage. All’s not lost at you have the basis for painting , all be it different fro what you planned , I’m sure you can turn it around . Look forward to seeing what develops.
As Paul says, it’s a common thing. I often start off excited and optimistic, lose my way and then spend time rescuing. At the end of it all, if you’re still not happy, leave it a while , then decide whether you want to paint bits out or even paint over the top. It can be quite releasing.
