I'm about to get ready for new painting. I'm not pleased with canvas texture, just can't enjoy it, so I did aplly the gesso then, to improve the smoothness... What subject is gonna be? I haven't decided just yet... ● A4 size, Jackson's Belgian Linen canvas board. ● Michael Harding oils ● Michael Harding gesso

I do like the up close fill the frame format. That beak is a little scary though.
This is exactly why it's stollen my heart. The pose is gathering attention, isn't it? The beak is very prominent right at the moment, I agree ;) Thanks Collette for having a look.

An interesting perspective, Pog. The head looks very duck-like. What species is the bird?
I think a tightly cropped painting, or extreme close-up...however you want to put it, often produces a very powerful image.  I shall watch with interest.
Agreed. Just watched your sketch video Art, and will follow with interest. The raven is a stunning bird, if a bit scary!

Oh dear, my apologies Carol, I didn't mention what species the bird is, because I was hoping you will watch the video... It's the Raven. Sorry for confusing Carol ;)

The reference photo did grab my attention long ago. The close up is focused right on the bird's head, the eye... The pose of the head, the eye gazes on the viewer... It does creates some interesting atmosphere while looking at... I shall mention it's A4 size only, so full body of the bird will appear very small, where close up my be more attractive? Let's see how it goes Lewis. Thank you for attention!

Thanks for having a look at YT dear Tessa ;) That's right, those kind of birds, any species related to this family, are common actors in the horror movies, aren't they? Dark characters  ;) Even Collette did mention the beak is scary already ;) I hope it won't  scare you off following the progress, lol ;) Thank you very much Tessa.
I am at a safe distance Art so no it won’t scare me! 🤣
I totally missed the YouTube link. Glad you mentioned the video to Carol.
