I've put a much stronger glaze on today and painted some lower areas in the bottom right. So the bottom right of the painting has had no glaze applied at all at the moment. I will put a first coat on tomorrow and a second coat on the following day in this area. I think three years into painting, I can never say I'm over the moon with anything but reasonably happy I can say. I think when the glaze is finished, I will be reasonably happy with this painting. These pictures show the second glaze being applied.
It’s looking so good Denise, you have worked really hard to develop your skills.
You have done exceptionally well Denise to get where you are in three years, you really have achieved so much.
Really like this very much Denise, especially the depth of colour in the sky, and also your buffalo standing out so well against the lighter colours in the foreground.
Okay, I'm done with this now. Time to move on. Did I achieve what was in my head. Yes, I think so, I wanted a dusky look, yet also wanted to retain rich colours. Have I gone too dark with the glaze, I'm undecided. I am reasonably happy. Yes, I think it turned out alright. I'll pop it on the gallery. Thanks for all your input.
Don't think it's too dark; do think bison are difficult beasts to paint (I've tried: in the wild you can't get near enough, from photos the first thing you notice is that they vary an awful lot: one bison size doesn't fit all...).  Just a point here though: when I was in hospital, many many years ago, bored and anxious at the same time, I drew a Gaur (a what?  A Gaur - a massive ox inhabiting the Indian sub-continent).  I remember it was rather good - the surgeon liked it, the Cruella de Ville night sister liked it, the old feller in the bed next to mine liked it: could I do it now?  Don't know; might try; can I find that drawing anywhere - ?  No. It was a copy of a lino print or engraving by Tunnicliffe, I think .... I bet, if you were to show your bison to that critic who was on In It for the Monet, or whatever it was, he'd say to us what he said to some unfortunate ("real artists don't paint elephants/bison/gaur").    And I think we would both tell him just what he could do with himself.
Beautifully done Denise and it’s been really good watching it progressing thank you for posting the different stages.
Stunning Denise; that sky is particularly beautifully executed!
It’s really lovely Denise.
It’s a great painting Denise!
Lurves it Denise.
Thank you all, very much.
