I bought a pad of 20  A3 canvas sheets that said the were for water based oils, acrylic and other water based pigments. As it was only £4:99 I though I would give it a try with watercolour I did get two as they were on offer . The sheets are very thin linen and definitely  have canvas look and feel to them , I cut one in half and tried quite thick watercolour paint just put it on to see how it looked and felt.  I was quite impressed as it held the paint better than I thought it would . Now to try doing a painting on the other haft , a tree that has snapped of a branch in heavy snow is the subject I chose. I want to see it it works using watercolours thinly this is the result so far.
Paul - may I entreat you not to fiddle with this one?  Not that I'm saying you usually do, but this painting, as it stands without even a touch of further work, is worthy of framing: I love the simplicity of it, the almost Japanese/Chinese touch, and the movement in your tree and branches.
Thank you Robert for your much valued comments. I had moved on before I read your  observations , I had not intended to do much with it other than a simple background and a little more work on the tree particularly where the branches have broken off  I shall do little more than I have already as  it too like the simplicity, your comment has confirmed my decision to keep it minimal. Hopefully it will work out well .
Excellent job, now leave!  Good boy!  Drop it!  Have a Scooby-snack.
Woof .
I agree with Robert...LEAVE alone.
Love it Paul; definitely an experiment worth repeating! Love and God bless x
I shall leave it as it is then and do a mk 2. With the damage showing. Thank you for your comments and support folks .

Agreed! You have a delicate touch. This is lovely.
New sketch for the mk2 tree in snow . I’ve also included some photos of the canvas sheets .
Interesting paper/ canvas Paul. Does it feel papery or canvasy ?  Don't think I've seen it anywhere before.
It’s definitely canvas not paper it very thin canvas sheets and feels sort and flexible. It’s almost like the old linen bandage but has primer on it and feels a bit thicker . It does say 100 linen canvas sheets , I have never seen it before so I grabbed a couple of the pads from the Range before they sold out I thought £4:99 per pad was quite reasonable.I certainly like the feel of it and intend to try a couple of different paintings on it to see how it works out. It’s
