Despite the heat I’m still trying to work in watercolour, I do wonder how artist in the past when on the grand tour etc coped as predominantly they worked in watercolour.  I sketched this out last evening when it was cooler , and added the base colour this morning, around nine o’clock, it’s actually almost complete now but I’m going to post it in stages before posting on the gallery. The first washes were not to bad and I had a bit of time before they dried out. Currently it’s around thirty two degrees in my Shedio ( shed/studio .
Paul, that's to high a temperature to try and work in. It's 29 in Glastonbury as I write, higher in my art room. I had plans to start a picture, but decided not to today. Sorry to come on like a mother hen, but you will get very dehydrated in those temperatures. X
Copious amounts of water is required for both the painting and me , I’m not working this afternoon as it’s far to hot even outside in the shade to paint .
I did some more this morning before it became far to hot to think let alone paint, I will add the finer details when it’s cooled down a lot . Please with the results but as it’s photographed in the shade it’s not looking as vibrant as it actually looks.
I completed the painting g this evening use pencil for the rigging , my hand is too unsteady for a rigger at the moment. I won’t put in on the gallery till I can get a photo that picks up the vibrancy, it looks dull and a bit flat in this photo .
To be honest Paul I think it looks rather lovely like it is. But of course, I totally understand about getting to show the vibrancy.  The mount adds to those gorgeous blues and greys. Must say well done for perseverance. Look forward to seeing it when you are happier with the photo. I have the same problems. Mine come out extra pale. It is lovely though.
Love the soft colours Paul, and of course great sketch of the boat, one of your specialties. I imagine you would like a dip in that lovely cool-looking water! I had no idea that England could reach such high temperatures, I'd always thought of the UK as being cooler than here on the whole.
Think this is about the best I can get for now , still not quit as vibrant .
It's great Paul. Makes me feel cooler and calmer. My camera does the same, seems to make up its own mind. Then I can't seem to photograph straight. Tis a bit of a faff for me.
Irrespective of the photography, I like the image of the Thames barge, a favourite vessel of mine, so always a pleasure seeing them. Nice work Paul! I can see that by the colour of the presumably white mount, that something isn’t quite right colour wise…
Thank Norrette and Alan, one of my favourite vessels as well Alan but I’m sure you know that . I tried various locations for the photo but for some reason it’s picking up the blue , trued camera, iPhone and iPad.
