Thank you Alan and Robert for your comments and advice regarding the reflection area of the painting. I plan to go back to  it today and try your tips.

Reflections and shadows are quite difficult to replicate but add so much to a painting. You have the skills to do it Gill and make a good job of it too.
The reflections are easily toned down with a wash of neutral tint or similar, as I alluded to earlier… I don’t think it’s as easy as it sounds to break up that large expanse of reflection at this late stage - but watercolour can be lifted out (to a degree), although it’s never ideal. But, on a positive note, consider it a learning curve for your next one Gill…
The painting is acrylics Alan, I haven’t been able to look at it today and unlikely to  until next week. Thanks Paul for being my cheerleader!  Good night Gill xxx
Oh yes! I’ve just seen it on my larger screen, and can see the grain in the board! In that case, easily rectified!
Spent some time on the reflections today here is the end result
