You’ve developed a rather interesting style over the last few years Paul - very methodical and thought out compositions etc… well done! This is excellent…
Thank you George and Alan for the very kind and supportive comments. I have changed my way of painting over the last year or so even more so upon the lad six month I think , I am explaining this change in the Sketching thread as it relevant to the discussion on that topic.
Quite a journey this has  been, hasn't it?  And I think you've steered this one successfully into port - it's nearly always  hard to know when to stop; and is  quite possible to stop too soon, out of fear of fiddling and overworking. That's the bigger danger though - yes; that's what an old tutor of mine called "muckin' abaht wiv it!".   This  one is particularly rich in colour - I think it could have stood a few more darks in the distance - but then, I like dark woods; I've been watching Bigfoot videos on YouTube, from the forests of the Appalachian Mountains - it's got me expecting the deepest and creepiest, but as it wasn't your intention to do that, I'm sure you were right to cry halt.  I agree with the others about showing your progress in stages - useful for anyone trying to succeed in this medium; and useful for you too, as a record.
