Been thinking of producing a life journal for a while. I've been watching a young lady on youtube, Becky Cao. I've also been reading a nature journal book by Elaine Franks - The Undercliff. If I can produce something half as good as this lady I'll be very happy. But for now, this is my choc-chip cookie, on the bag it came in, and a sprig of quince painted in the garden. 20x15cm sketchbook, uni-pin fine line pen and Mungyo watercolour paints

A wonderful mix of everyday life, little joys, cookies and writing - I love journaling, writing (with fountain pen and ink) and the combination of watercolour painting and note taking/writing. It's so cosy to have a cup of coffee, a little cake and brush, paints and water glass with you and just chill out:) I really like your journaling, the composition and theme are wonderful:)
Thankyou for your reply, Tanja and happy that you like this. That hygge feeling is there within your words :) lovely. You've given me a timely reminder to get the fountain pen out again, to do the writing. My journal bag will be light, journal, pen, liner- pen paintbox, water or maybe an aqua pen or two. Writing is something I love doing in the form of prose and on occasion a poem. Many years ago I took a creative writing course, will be signing up again later this year to improve the skill of presentation.
What a lovely idea Carol, and nicely done with clean lines. I love the ‘rain stopped play’ note, very apt at the moment! Look forward to seeing more.
Hi Carol, glad I "hooked" you:) today I also did some line-wash-writing; early in this morning, with a cup of coffee and cool morning air. I put it in my little gallery. It's also nice to add a few little doodles to the regular diary. So now I have a colouring book 80% painting and 20% writing, and a diary with 80% writing and 20% painting. Writing just for the sake of writing, and not so much to record clever thoughts, which I don't have anyway...have a nice day and i'm also looking forward to seeing more of your lovely journaling. (wave)
Thanks, Tessa. I know its not a new thing to do, but I thought 'give it a go' and I'm enjoying the process. I hope I will be able to do something daily, it will all be free-hand drawing then a few w/c washes and it will be what it is, a fun thing :)
Hi Tanja I've just popped in to view your journal page. A beautiful and sincere tribute to your pet. Lovely work. I'm already thinking how many pages we will fill and what we will write by the time we arrive at the end of the year and how the things we paint will change through the seasons, well, what we have left of this year anyway. Just this minute my square 21x21cm pads have arrived no excuse not to get cracking this evening.

ah, how nice, that's a good size:) my book has exactly 20x20cm, so almost the same as yours. I think it's a very good size! Yes, I also sometimes think how time jumps, if I turn only 2 pages backwards, I think it was a different era? I should paint more often, then the time jumps are smaller:) hihi.... have fun with your new book, I'm already looking forward to more paintings. ps: my other diary with 80% writing...
The interesting postings here have shamed me into digging out my much neglected journal which I started quite a few years ago. I won't be a frequent poster, but it's nice to have somewhere to join in.  These were done sometime around the Magna Carta ( well, maybe not that long ago..but..(-:
Tanja, your writing is very neat, I love the washing line. I can imagine you have written about your wash day and the weather, and then having a coffee break at 3.00. A wonderful insight into a person in another country. I may not understand the words you have written but, I think the art work explains your day to a certain extent :) I like the look of your pen. Very nice. I think the size is just right for the journaling. I started this evening. I will finish the page off tomorrow and post it. Going in with the pen and then painting is liberating. I've always been a bit fussy with getting things just right. I'm hooked :)
Jim, it's smashing to see your work, no matter how far back you produced it. They are nice sketches of a moment of your life-time. I hope you will be encouraged to post more, maybe more recent :) 'The Magna Carta' l.o.l
@Jim: Wow, this is great! Love the way of your sketching! But what is (in the last pic) this long "thing" in the background?   (guess no unicorn) :) @Carol: yes, this was washing day with lot of coffee breaks:) The fountain pen is a "Graf von Faber-Castell Sterling silver"; i love it really! Have fun journaling!
