Does anyone know of a supplier of a decent pochade box without having to pay an arm and a leg. Ive been searching for a while now but with some suppliers asking the thick end of £500 its getting ridiculous. At the moment its looking like the only route is going to be DIY. Ive always bought quality for my painting supplies  but I refuse to pay these prices for a plywood box.

I agree entirely, some are way overpriced! The Open Box M is in that bracket, but it’s a quality piece and will last forever! Have a browse through the Jackson’s website, I think the Mabef range are pretty good and reasonably priced!

I bought this box and a tripod from Cass art. I love it. Light weight. Aluminium tripod, adjustable heights. I think it was just over 200 pounds in total.

As far as I’m aware The Open Box M is no longer being manufactured.  It is still available if you search and a second hand one might be a good buy.  I still use my Open box M, but also have a small Ugo box and tripod which packs up into a small rucksack with paints and small painting boards.
