Ah - but that's spoiled the joke!  Har de har har....   Quite cincidentally - being, well, old - or even well old - some things come back to me if prompted.  Do you remember Nikita Kruschev pounding his shoe on the desk at the UN to make a point?  And Harold Macmillan's reply: "I'd like that translated, if I may." They don't make Russian or British politicians that way any more!  Poor Nikita Sergeyevich didn't understand why everyone was laughing: Mr Gromyko probably had a quiet word later.....
