Has anyone experience of iridescent soft pastels? For example, can iridescent white be used to make clouds shine?
I don't know if he's still working, because he would be getting on a bit now, but see if you can find some demos by Arnold Lowrey - not because he used iridescent pastels, but because he shows how to get great effects without them. While I've seen iridescent paint, and oil pastels, I don't think I've ever seen soft pastels in iridescent form - I imagine they'd be rather hard to manufacture.

I'm not sure about iridescent pastels - but I do occasionally use metallic pastel pencils.  I have a Derwent set of 12 in different colours.  The ones I use most are the bronze, gold and silver to add highlights to hair in portraits.  I don't paint flowers very often, but I have occasionally used the metallic green (which is quite silvery) as highlights on vegetation that has silvery grey/green leaves.
Hey, that's a good idea. I've occasionally thought of using iridescent paint to brighten stars, but not giving a shine to clouds (and other objects). I've seen pastels in iridescent hues, but never thought to try them. These look nice.https://www.howtopastel.com/2017/05/senneliers-iridescent-pastels-review/

I don't have anything against metallic paints or iridescent hues, I think it is far more interesting and much more fun to try and create the effect, without the use of them. I think it helps to develop your skills and knowledge if you try and aim for these effects without buying them ready made. That's not to say, I will never try them in the future. I never, say never.
