Just stuck my nose in to see if anything is different forum-wise.  Can't tell, nobody seems to be posting anything other than 'new website stuff'  (Which, of course, is needed.)  Overall, I think the new site is good.  Two things I really like...the image quality is very good (so good that I've posted two pics, and then withdrawn them because the better graphics showed up too many faults).  The second thing is we now have the number of views on EACH picture.  We didn't have that before...that's good, not everybody wants to comment, but now we know they're being looked at.  It's an encouragement. As has been mentioned, the total views of our work is back.  Good for the same reason. On the subject of views...they still aren't shown for each thread on the forum (they used to be).  Again, I think it's important.  As someone who starts new topics occasionally, you want some kind of response.   Fine if you get replies and comments (even people going off on tangents), if you don't get many of them, but people are viewing it, that's OK.  Under the old system, sparse comments and views meant you were boring the pants off people and you could shut up and sulk. At the moment, we've no way of telling. So...when you can...please put the number of views back on each forum thread. Keep up the good work, Lew.
Boring the pants of people, Lewis! Surely not :)

Yes that important the number of view on a forum message Lewis. Having put a message up and no one answered I was pleased to see that at least a lot of people had taken the time to look at the posting. ABOUT VIEWS. Are we all aware that if you view one of your images the counter adds another view. Note the number close the image and open it again you will find it has added yet another view. So if the number was 10 when you first opened the image you will now have 12 view. I wish it would not do that.
Yes John, I agree that the 'views' shouldn't include those times you view your own work.  Each time you get a comment and open the image to read it, you're adding to the number.  I don't know how difficult it is for them to stop that.   I was looking through my gallery, for an image I posted some time ago (having apparently 'lost' it on my PC), when I noticed something else that's NEW on this website.  All my old posted images now have a view count.  This didn't happen previously...you just got the count for the top 5.  That's very interesting...some have quite high counts.  I can only assume they still get looked at long after they were posted.  In my case, it's not because they get put on Facebook, Pinterest etc.  POL doesn't put my stuff on social media.
Only this morning I had a message from POL to say there was a new comment on the, lighthouse, painting I posted back in March, that was nice, never had that before, and I do like to reply as soon as possible to anyone that has taken the time to view and comment. Not worried about the viewing stats, but it is nice to have a comment or two. I do like the new image within the gallery, our own comments have a blue background, and the last comment is at the top of the list, which makes a lot more sense. Good change, POL :)

I had the same Carol, a comment on a painting posted months ago, and it made me realise that there is no longer a date on our gallery posts. I would prefer they were at least in chronological order as I would rather have my recent stuff show first if anyone goes looking. At least it makes it more likely that people will comment on older work which they rarely did before. Tessa
To know the number of views is useful and we all agree on that. The fact that it adds one each time we ourselves view it is in my case trivial and of no great significance.

Just glad we've got the total view count back!
Further comment - none of the above messages are showing under 'new website' it stopped working 2 days ago - I picked this up from the lhs side bar?
Beginning to wonder if no-one has posted today or has the gallery calendar stuck on September 30th. Also noticed that if I search the gallery by technique there are only 2 pages of acrylics shown, and the same for oils.  Watercolour gets 3 pages, but it will certainly restrict the ability to trace back a painting you saw  in the past.
Just noticed, the calendar has moved on!
Don't understand why this is just showing 1 of 2 pages when under 'new website' there is 14/15 pages?  Surely same header should keep the forum going month by month?
