I hope it's not completely inappropriate for me to post this here—I still feel a connection to the forum and all the lovely people here in a way. The last few months have been quiet in terms of painting...I paint in phases...and last night, the thing I feared most happened: my beloved cat Smoky, who gave nothing but love and joy for 18 years, passed away. While it was predictable in the long run, unexpected in the short run. He played with his blanket until his last day, ate and drank regularly, snuggled, and hadn't lost any weight, I was completely shocked when it happened. We immediately drove to the animal hospital that night, where he gently slipped into the unknown without pain. I hope you don't mind me writing this, or hope it's not inappropriate...? I won't know whether I'll paint, walk, cry, or do something else in the near future. I need time. I haven't forgotten you, and I'll be here in the forum often. Sincerely, Tanja.
So sorry to hear about your loss , I know that Smokey was a large part of your life and I’m sure you will find time to paint again in the future .
My condolences Tanja.
So sad to hear Tanja. Always awful to lose a loved pet. X
Oh I'm so sorry. I have pets and they really are family. Your cat looked so beautiful and you can see you loved him very much. I hope you feel better as time goes by Tanja.
Take care Tanya. Take time, too. There's no right or wrong way to do these things. It's not inappropriate to share, and I hope it helps you. Come back when you feel ready. Take care
So sorry Tanya that you've lost Smoky - I hope that you'll get back to painting when you feel more like it.
Such a sad time Tanya. Those of us who’ve gone through this know exactly how you feel. Take care.
It's not inappropriate at all - don't worry about that.  I join with the others in sending you my sympathy:  there's  no such thing as just a pet, as I well know.    We  get to know and value the characters of our pets - which can be as complex as those of people: more so, sometimes.
So sorry for you and your family Tanja, all lives are precious and you gave Smoky a loved and long life, our pets are so precious to user and I feel for you.
Thank you all for your comforting words; I appreciate them. 🖤
