Denise - the tie would have been a mid-blue (school uniform); the eyes are grey-blue now - I suppose they were 60 odd years ago. The hair then was dark brown, almost black - and now it's..... not.
Bari, well done; I ought to have a go at it myself, really - perhaps I will.
Denise again - Flake White Hue, yes, thought so: Cass Art don't sell lead whites. You can get lead whites from Natural Pigments (Europe), from the Supreme Paint Company, import it from the USA, or there are one or two other places that I'm reluctant to name because every now and then the state nannies descend on them and want to know if it's safely packaged, whom they're selling it to - Lord God alive, when you think of the hazardous materials lurking beneath most people's kitchen sinks and b. British bureaucracy worries about lead in paint, in the hands of people who know what they're doing with it, well - it makes me cross. You'd think we were cunningly spooning it into babies' rusks, or slipping it in the Vicar's tea.......

Paint tube tops, while I think of it - Denise, I too have one weak hand and that does make it a bit difficult to get caps off: and I do use a device like the one you've shown. But used it once, and managed to rip the tube in half (it was quite an old one) getting covered in, as I remember, Mars Orange - well, better that than Pthalo Blue, the devil of a colour to wash off.
You'll find the caps much easier to remove if you hold the cap end under the hot tap for a few seconds, then gently attack with your pliers: or if you'd rather not get your fingers in hot water, fill a glass with it and dip the tube in. Nearly always works, with any paint. We're told that there's no problem with removing caps if we carefully clean the thread every time - but I really don't know anybody who does that religiously, and it's a lot easier said than done anyway.

They are all very good , in years to come parole will find theses paintings and want to know who Lord Robert was as do many people doing a portrait painting of him. I think Lord Robert rather suits him , sorry if I offend you good sir and no sarcasm is intended. Maybe it’s time all your work is recognised Robert , we could start a petition for next year .

My ears immortalized!
Well done, all of you - (Lord Robert, by the way, does sound attractive to my, um, ears). It was a good, clean photograph, so I thought it'd make a good study. Personal vanity? No, no, no! Moi? Please! How absurd - why, I'm actually rather coy about my own brilliance, though can't IMAGINE why!
Seriously, if you thought I wasn't being, you've caught a lot in those studies - I can see why I haven't drawn or painted from it myself: it might reveal more about my childhood than I want to remember. But for the rest of you - go on, plunge in, have a go!
