Some really good passages going on here Linda, this is looking good!  Great colours and depth on that land mass. I’d still like to see the line between land and sea smudged in some more, but that’s my style of working.
Ok Alan will work on that and thank you for taking the time to give advice.
Linda, that’s looking fabulous! I’ll keep my eye on this thread, so I don’t miss the outcome.....looks as though you’re just about there.
Hi Fiona, yes don't think there is much more to add other than a bit more work on the sea. Alan suggested a boat perhaps but I was thinking a couple of birds In the distance, not sure what kind visit Skye will have to look it up!! So wild again here this morning so a painting day I think lol.
A couple or thee birds would give it that remote look I think Linda. It quite windy here in Bucks but not cold, have a good day painting.

Regarding the birds, I suppose it depends on the time of year. If it’s this time of year there would be migratory birds....Gannets, terns etc. Shags and cormorants would be skimming across the water as well as using outcrops of rocks such as the one in the foreground to dry out their wings. It’s a bit rough here again today Linda, at least today’s rain is washing off the salt that was deposited on the windows yesterday! We should have an extra hour of daylight today now the  windows are clean....lol
You get all sorts of sea-birds up there - maybe ravens too, though I'm none too sure about that.  They tell me we've got those on the Isle of Wight, but I think they're confusing them with dirty great big crows.... Look up Ray Balkwill for the most convincing representation of sea birds I've ever seen; there is a painting by the usually sublime Edward Seago which features a bird in a stormy sky which looks like nothing more than a chicken caught in a strong wind..... if you want a more exact rendering of sea-birds, there's Charles Tunnicliffe - but his style wouldn't work with this painting, I would have thought.
Thanks for all your suggestions, just googled bird's on Skye and it looks pretty much anything, I don't suppose it matters much, they are only going to be small in the distance. No rain here at moment but the wind is worse than yesterday. You sound like you are having it worse Fiona. We could do with some rain here, our garden is bone dry and it's a very sandy soil so it soon dries out. The Isle of Wight was one of our favourite places Robert always intended to go back sometime 😏 stay safe and well all and keep on painting 😊
Looking really good Linda.  Don't think you need a bird - like Robert I have seen one or two good paintings spoiled by a dodgy looking bird!     However, if you really do want to include birds, some sort of generic gull(s) maybe flying or a buzzard high up - I don't think a detailed bird would suit this style of painting (which I really like).
Think this is more or less finished, don't want to start fiddling with it and overwork it. I've gone with three gulls, have tried to keep them fairly light, my hand was shaking!!! can always take them out if they don't look right. Hope they don't look like chickens Robert!!!
Now that’s better Linda! You’ve softened that line between land and sea, a big improvement. Those birds are great, nicely placed and concludes a very successful painting!
Excellent - I like the colour, the composition, the texture, the birds, the sense of place and wildness - you have triumphed.   And at one point, you thought you'd lost it!
