Anyone fancy painting butterflies for this month's challenge? It's the month of the Big Butterfly Count and, from what I've seen so far this year, I think numbers will be a long way down sadly. Hopefully some sunshine will bring them out...
I love Butterflies, tho Dronflies are my faves. I look forward to this month's challenge.
Yes, the numbers are certainly down. I haven't even found any that hibernate behind stones and within the woodpile, being aware of their habitat, I work with caution. Here is one I painted a few years ago, a Comma, and timely reminder to delve into the butterfly file and get the brushes out.
What a nice challenge ,sadly I haven’t seen many this year during this aweful summer.   This little guy is from a couple of years ago  he had settled on my bedside lamp and my phompne was right there so I took his picture  then produced this pencil sketch.
Carol, Sylvia - Both of your pieces are beautifully done! Carol, your finessed painting is very pleasing. Sylvia - I like the spontaneous plein air look. Here is my effort.  A digital piece appx 9x12.

Thankyou, Skylar. Three delightful portrayals of nature, that dragonfly is gorgeous. Lovely work, Sylvia
Seems butterflies are a bit scarse this year. Here is a type I have never seen except in photos - "Glass Winged"
