I was preparing a cabbage for yesterdays evening meal, and said to my son who is visiting isn’t it so beautifully constructed, it’s lime a work of art , answer was not very polite but suggests thst I se a psychiatrist. When you look at the shapes , colours variations etc its amazing structure, imagine trying to design something like that. A very long time ago I did a sketch of a cabbage leaf and thought maybe it’s time for another one, why not join me , any medium any style just do a single leaf of if your really looking for a challenge try the whole cabbage.
Paul, you definitely don’t need to see a psychiatrist, ha ha. I painted a cabbage once and found it very difficult - and that was the outside!
If you need a psychiatrist Paul, then so do I.  Could we get a cheap rate for a bulk booking 😀 This is one I did a few years ago.
Two superb pieces, I think as artists we tend to see things differently to those who don’t paint of sketch. I remember years ago when I was working in the mental health sector a lady who was in my art classes and I was teaching to paint , told e one day that I had made  her look and see things differently. She was referring to a sunset that she had seen the night before, very excited about seeing it , as she was in her late fifties I said that she had seen them before surely , her response was yes but I actually noticed the colours and the sky around it and that’s a first for me .  How many of us see shapes patterns, even faces etc in carpets, curtains, clouds just about everything has something that catches our attention.
Two fine examples Marjorie and Alan. I will be up for the challenge Paul. Probably have a try at this over the weekend.
Great I’m pleased you are having a go Denise , I will be trying my hand at it o er the next day or so. I will try to find the one I did years ago and see if I do a better job with it this time.
This is an old one but it fits the bill
Nice one Lynn.  Love that deep purple🙂
Ooops double post

Another oldie, the red cabbage takes a back set here.
I love the colours in both of these Lynn.
Paul, I was merrily going along doing your challenge today when unexpected visitors called. I will try and finish it tomorrow. I've posted what I've done so far so you can see the obvious mistakes. I don't know how it will turn out. The thing with a challenge is that you are doing something unexpected. Challenges are a good thing because it gives you a chance to look at objects and structures you might not have considered. It gives you a chance to figure your way around a dense object and try to portray that. My painting of a cabbage might end up a load of rubbish but I hope I will be able to build on its foundation and turn it around. Nonetheless a challenge is always a refreshing exercise. I hope more people will have a go.
