I have for many years painted something to commemorate Remembrance Day, it’s often been something simple mostly involving poppies.
I though for a change this year I would do a complete painting of something related to the theme of war , I don’t want to glorify the fighting and the destruction caused by war. I started to think of other things that happen in a war or areas of conflict that included other people not just the front line troops, the list is endless , nurses, policemen, mechanics, cooks etc etc etc.
For my theme I chose Convoys and decided that I would paint a picture of a convoy in the Mediterranean heading towards Malta and passing Gibraltar .
This includes both servicemen and women and civilian seamen and also recognises the importance of both Malta and Gibraltar and the people living and working there at the time .
Please think about going the challenge and painting sketching or whatever else you prefer and post the results on or as near to the 11 November as possible but not before
This is the basic sketch for my painting I am already working on it but not rushing it .
