Lovely work Carol, do put it on the Gallery if it isn't already. Still struggling to get back into painting since I returned.
Thank you for your lovely comments, Marjorie Sandra, and Tao. So much movement in your work, Tao, reminds me of the sea lashing against the rocks. Very lively work. Sandra, I hope you haven't been unwell - I'm doing catch-up, here, as we've been busy during this hot weather so I'm not sure why you've been away. When I have a lack of inspiration I look at art books or artwork on line, that usually gets me motivated to do something. Hope you get your mojo back soon.
Carol, thank-you for your kind comment. No, I haven't been unwell, was on a small(ish) ship expedition through the Malay Archipelago from Manila to Darwin, stopping off at some lovely islands and beaches en route. It's just that since I've been back there's been a lot to catch up on in the house and garden, so painting has been pushed back in the "to do" list. I'll take your advice about looking at art books (I've got plenty of them) for inspiration. By the way, it's mid winter here!
Always a pleasure, Tao. How are you getting on with your Chinese painting, your peony was gorgeous. Good to read it's not a health issue. That trip sounds absolutely delightful, Sandra. The furthest I've been is France, an enjoyable few days away. The dreaded housework, when we could be doing something more useful , like painting :) I'm guessing you're in the southern hemisphere, and making the most of the cooler weather, we're baking, here, in the UK, a rare occasion, HOT, but nowhere near the temperatures you have down there.
Yes Carol I'm in the southern hemisphere, Christchurch, New Zealand. Yes, we can have some very hot temperatures, but it's quite cold at present.
Finally Marjorie, and at long blooming last. First attempt at my new watercolour pencils and just went for it. Abstract but with a totally unfamiliar medium, hope I interpreted your challenge correctly. Not great but am experimenting with this medium, discovered that one has to be really careful not to drop any water droplets on it! Emotion was "panic" as it is now quite a while since you issued the challenge but really wanted to do it and time slipping away. Don't know whether I think it's good enough for the Gallery, perhaps someone could give an opinion.
No such standard as "good enough for the gallery" Sandra, otherwise people would be afraid to post their work at all. The great thing about art is it's focus on the painters and not just subjects, particularly on sites like Painters on line. Post your pics and enjoy doing it. Incidentally, I was actually a bit horrified to find just how many items were in my own galleries here, so much so that I spent yesterday deleting quite a lot of them. Then again, who's counting. 😆
Marjorie, Jim, Tao, thank-you for your kind comments. I'll put it on now. Jim, whatever you do please don't delete any of those wonderful paintings with that green door! Tao, I'll go on experimenting, and try gentle dabbing with water. I've tested that a little but didn't use it on this one except for the red and one of the blue shapes. But was horrified to find that I'd managed to accidentally get some water droplets that I didn't want on the finished result.
Oh dear, might as well be honest Sandra, the Green Door collection is no more. Since it had no value as paintings in the strict sense, I deleted the lot along with quite a few others that I have the actual sketches of in hard copy. The green doors were made up with images on Paint. Ah, well, I can always make more in the future, though maybe no the famouse green door items. 😊
Really upset Jim. They were original and fun, and I (along with a lot of others) really enjoyed them. Such a pity if they have vanished totally.
Thank-you very much Syd. I'll do another one and use water with that, then we can compare. This is still in the experimental stage.
Big relief Jim that they haven't vanished entirely. But it would still be good if they could be viewed somewhere.
