I've been a subscriber to both The Artist and Leisure Painter magazines for many years now. My June copies have just dropped through the letter box, how very timely and appreciated, more so this month than ever! After a quick browse through, I've spotted some great tutorials and features that have grabbed my attention, in fact loads of interesting ideas to certainly help keep me inspired and motivated during this difficult period of isolation. I'll be sitting out on the patio shortly with a coffee, having a good read through both magazines - it all helps to keep my mind active and focused, so important for many of us I'm sure!
I agree wholeheartedly with Alan, I always look forward to these inspirational mags.
I've had the Leisure Painter for a while and enjoy the tutorials in there. Havn't read the latest one yet (arrived yesterday), but sitting in the garden on the newly positioned garden seat with a cuppa and the magazine sounds like a good idea :-)
There’s a terrific article by Graham Webber in the June edition of TA. It’s a WIP coastal scene in oils, superbly written and illustrated - really inspiring stuff! Graham is a regular contributor, a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, absolutely top work.
Received my copy of The Artist this morning and, being a great lover of colour and pattern, really enjoyed the article on Richard Rees’ vibrant cityscapes which are painted using oil pastels.  I’ve never been able to get on with normal pastels, find they create too much dust, but may, as a change from watercolour, try the Sennelier oil pastels he uses which come in a range of gorgeous, vibrant colours. Has anyone got any experience of using them?
