Look out of the window... no snow, no rain...wall to wall blue and yellow. A day for sitting out there with pencils , paints and paper. Don’t travel far just sit on your doorstep . Look at a flower, a cloud , the postman or even next doors dog or cat. Throw away your lines and angles , trees and flowers don’t have them , and our postman is decidedly curvy. Look forward to seeing results ..just enjoy the day.
Just about to get out there Sylvia, wall to wall sunshine so keep in the shade. Now then, where shall I go?. Just a drive into the countryside which surrounds me I think, and pick a spot, any spot. It's amazing what views are to be had by just pulling into a gateway to a field. The hedges do create such a barrier and very often hide some great simple views with huge potential.
Suh-pur-ring is here/Spring is here/Life is skittles and life is beer/I think Sping is the best time of year/Don't You?/Course you do.... The opening lines to Poisoning Pigeons in the Park by Tom Lehrer. AND I've still got the heating on. I'll teach that Evans to come round here, trying to cheer people up ... it's not natural!
It's Summer out there! Just had a coffee with a friend outside Starbucks at lunchtime and I've caught the sun! I find that the weather affects my creative output massively, so I'm hoping that this upturn helps me get my behind in gear again :)
I've been too busy for any art today, shopping and visiting a friend, only just sat down to look on here.
I'm loving the summer so much especially this summer Ive just got this!
hahhaa thats so gangsta anthk :D love it ignore syd he's jealous hahha :pinch:
It's autumn here of course but the weather is still far too blooming hot with a howling nor'wester (our fohn wind). Some lovely autumn colours though. Working on another abstract but not ready to post it yet. Just love your tree Sylvia and hope you enjoyed your wine, afraid I prefer medium to dry. Had a couple of glasses tonight with dinner then entered my favourite website. Going to have a nice lazy evening once I've washed up.
Well I took Sylvia's advice and got out into the glorious countryside. I found a gate with a pull in, set up my gear and spent a very enjoyable hour or so painting. Nothing spectacular to show for it, but it all passes the time of day. I will post it on the gallery later when I get a chance to photograph it.
That's half of the fun Syd ;)
Come on you lot, stop all this chilled white wine drinking and get yourselves out there sketching. I've just arrived back and done another oil sketch. It's much better than sitting in the shade drinking wine and relaxing, honestly!. Am I the only one doing any plein-air stuff?, this was a challenge from Sylvia the other day, usually they get a good response! I'll post my effort tomorrow when I've had chance to look at it again with fresh eyes. My first impression when I bought it back and sat it on the easel was... rubbish.
I have THOUGHT about it, Alan - I suppose that's a start.... But of course, it's clouded over today: still warm, but there be rain in them there clouds.
