I don't think I'm going to be able to do it from January - just too much to do on quite incredibly boring but necessary political matters. But I do need something to get me working on art again  - so - will February do?

Hi Robert, you could do this at any time.  Also, if you are interested, Anthony Greentree on Twitter has set up monthly challenges including #sketchjanuary #landfebruary (daily landscapes etc) https://twitter.com/antsgreentree/status/1084792682369765377/photo/1 I might still be doing this in February (I did last year but who knows)
Good idea Margaret. I will try to keep up with you!

Or I might end up keeping up with you!   Last year Annick Whitcombe and myself encouraged each other- we both flagged on different days.   I like this - really does look very edible.
Just done a 40min sketch with charcoal pencils - first time with them, Lyra, not intense enough. Will use pen or pencil tomorrow.

Beautifully drawn Marjorie.
Thanks Marjorie and Tessa for joining in - helps keep the forum going as well as getting some drawing practice.   Linda, Robert and Paul - would be great to see your work here if you can find some time :)   Now having kicked this off, I need to keep drawing too!
Done very quickly to get today’s in on time, I was just reading about woodland so thought this appropriate. Better start thinking about tomorrow’s.
Snap Paul, I’ve just rushed mine off before I turn in. Great idea Margaret, hope I keep going, don’t want to let you down now I’ve committed.
I will try and manage some... probably a good idea for me ,I will just put pencil and paper under my nose. Great idea.
I will have a go at this as I need to improve my sketching I have already set myself a challenge of a sketch a day for a year as I bought a little book from Wilco which has 365 pages for thoughts so I am going to do a sketch on each page.
Brill work, above. Tessa, if I hadn't eaten so much Christmas cake, I'd be licking the screen, that looks yummy :)

There are loads of these things.  There is an art hashtag on Twitter every month, sometimes more than one; Ants Greentree runs everything except the October project.  #creatuary - draw a creature each day from a list of prompts is also running now.. Facebook - Kick In The Creatives has projects every month, Creative Fire runs several each year. Also - 64 million Artists have a January special then weekly stuff. Youtube/ Vimeo - Love Life Drawing and Croquis Cafe run Figuary, a joint life drawing project in February. I'm sure there are loads more

Great, numbers are growing!  Lovely delicate sketch, Paul - I like that a lot.   I really like that pig, Fiona - a great quick subject!   Christopher, I see you are a new Forum member - glad you are joining in - there were only 2 of us doing this last year!  Nicely sketched - and good for you going to do it for the whole year!   I only made it to the middle of March - though did a couple of the monthly online challenges later on - some are listed above.
