PS not had time to look at the two artists you have mentioned Darren and Ewan, will try to take a look later.
Some may think that this does not qualify here as it's not done from life. But it's one of a series I did a couple of years ago. Ink, acrylic and gesso on paper, 37x52 inches. I do have a selfie done from life which I will photograph and post if requested, but it's a nude done after watching a programme that featured Lucien Freud's self portraits so be warned.
Well there’s different John.   It’s a really exciting  portrait. This isn’t Face Book...so post away with your nude pics.  Thanks for joining in.
Really like this John - you look like you were maybe having a bad day!
A bad day Heather? Do you mean in the photo I used or with the drawing?
Very strong image John.
In the drawing John - black and white always has a real drama about it and I think you're looking quite stern … actually why I like it too.  Not the usual self portrait!
Fantastic self portraits, I have been really inspired to have a go.  In the meantime, I just completed a drawing of an 18 month photograph (of me)....
Nicely done Dorothea ..like the white highlights and tinted paper.  Welcome to the challenge.
I agree with Heather John about your portrait, not about you having a bad day but about the use of black and white. It makes for a strong and powerful portrait, it also makes me look into it more.....perhaps it makes the emotional state stand out? I might add, I know nothing about portraiture, tried once and failed miserably. My admiration to you all, for your excellent portraits!
Thank you Sylvia.  I enjoyed doing it, apart from the usual frustrations....
one more attempt at drawing me. this tie in coloured pencil.
