Having my shower this morning and using my favourite soap " Pears" slogan growing up into a beautiful lady...ha ha didn't work for me though I've used it forever. Anyhow it set me thinking about paintings and ads one of the ones for Pears soap was Bubbles by John Millais  bit of a soppy looking kid but beautifully painted.   There are lots of these  ,how many can we  compile, would  be interesting..

Interesting subject Sylvia, I think there must be a few across the periods.  Wish I could get hold of Pears , I can't see it in my local supermarket.
A very I treating subject Sylvia I was Looking at advertising posters a few days ago with a view to having a week or part of a week featuring them on the inspiration from artists thread . There are some excellent posters out there and are becoming popular again apparently then nothings new is in art . Be very interesting to see what people make of your poster above .
I’m thinking of railway posters. Were some of those by well known artists?
I've always used this soap Sylvia. I don't go for all these fancy soaps and cleansers especially on the face. No, coal tar is the best by far. Although it doesn't help you sleep. 😆

Looking back there were a lot of quite well known artists who produced posters for lots of companies. Tessa lots of quite now well know artists painted posters and of course the small painting seen in the old railway carriages both are very collectible items .
I almost forgot Norman Rockwell who we looked at recently. He produced work for loads of ads. Here are just two.
A question I was asked several months back was are these posters real art , because they are mass produced by printing . At the time I answered they are definitely a art form and to me they are art , unfortunately the person asking is one of those I will win characters , his argument is that only the original is a piece of art , for peace and quiet I conceded . But on reflection I believe they are definitely art, I look forward to hearing what others think . Sorry Sylvia I’ve ambushed your thread a bit.
I saw this, this afternoon, in Invercargill (NZ). The puss is advertising coffee, (the brand has been here since 1872)
