You really capture that misty chilly autumn early morning woodland Paul. Takes me back to my childhood walks in Sherwood Forest
Thank you Gillian that certainly made it worth painting and posting  you have made my day.
Another quick sketch, I’m really enjoying doing the  fifteen / twenty minutes paintings no time to fiddle . This was on very wet Bockingford paper it mostly produced it’s self so no real credit to me , the looseness is quite pleasing as I normally tend to be a bit detailed.
Misty and mellow ...
Good description Sylvia!
Bit like me Sylvia  or is that dusty and  hollow . I have spent quite a few hours looking at photos and paintings of Thames hay barges , or floating haystacks as I want to do a painting with several on the Thames in London. There are few photo as as you would expect and quite a few paintings, some obviously suffering from artist licence , I would think they are quite unstable but some of the images would not make a couple of yards before floundering. The trick was to have a double cargo , bricks from Kent overloaded with straw fro Suffolk both badly needed in London, some still worked until the late 1940/50 s . My first attempt a study really .  L
Rough sketch for a watercolour painting, imaginary scene but I used photos to get the period buildings then adapted them to fit my imaginary dock land. Whilst posting I have noted a couple of thing I want to change , the church tower is to high and thin , this will also bring the steeple into the scene  more .

A4 gel pen , one miserable wet and wind blown tawny owl . Haven’t used the gel pen for a while sat down and did what came to mind, one of the creatures them  I’m very fond of Tawny Owl, Barn Owls then the others in no particular order.
I was listening to an owl at silly o'clock  this morning.  He was complaining bitterly about all this rain.... Nice one, I do find the gel pens good to use.
Handsome boy Paul, the owl that is! 😘😂
I get so many good tips about materials from this site, gel pens, tinted paper, sketch books, erasers. I think i know what Santa’s going to bring me this year! Nice owl by the way Paul.
