I had a very nice email from Sylvia today , she messages me when she is able .
She asked me to let you know she is alive and kicking, still being a dragon ( when needed) both her and Sam are doing well .
Sylvia tried to get on the forum today but somehow lost the contact and can’t get it back , she hopes Andy her son will sort it out for her .
While Sylvia s central vision has continued to deteriorate she still has peripheral vision so she is still able to see the beauty of the country lanes when she takes her daily walk with Sam . Sylvia said that she goes out with very dark glasses on , as the light affects her eyes and uses a long white stick her guide dog , Sam eleven inches high to assist her . She live in a country land and bath cars and vans speed along it , her hearing is extremely good and she can hear them coming, out goes the stick . The idea is that if the come to close the stick will bang and possibly scratch the vehicle, all tend to keep out of the mad woman and dangerous dogs way .
It was pleasing to hear that she is still dabbing with her paints and is trying to do a landscape .
Sylvia send her best wishes to you all , and I know from previous chats that she misses interacting with all of us on the forum .

I have my own problems with technology - not so much eyesight problems as lack of confidence and patience when a problem arises; so I get help, and good to know that Sylvia has access to it: don't be too proud to ask, Sylvia! Macular degeneration is a horrible thing, and the treatments are challenging and of limited effectiveness: I know, because my aunt and mother suffered from it, and I'm hoping it'll spare me. Some time ago, when I was a bit younger myself, I asked an elderly friend about coping with old age: he said "it's just one damn' thing after another: you've just got to keep rolling on"; and that, it seems to me, is about right.
Best wishes, Sylvia, and regards to Sam.
