Julie , don’t be daft…….go paint.
Bless you xx
Wise words Denise.  And that cartoon bird I saw was a Shoebill.  It had a few common names.  It's typical of me that the one I remembered was 'elephant-headed stork.' No worries Julie, it's my fault for starting this.  I mostly enjoy drawing cartoons, all I needed to say is that, with what's happening around me, I haven't been in the mood for cartoons.    Regardless, I ought to be drawing them...it makes me feel better. Also, I get most of my ideas from being out and about, chatting and people watching.  I haven't been doing much of that.  I mentioned a trip to Oxford above.  At one point we were sat having a coffee.  It was a sunny day, but a little bit cold.  People were walking by wearing summer scanties, while overs had overcoats on...this made me think of the old saying 'don't cast a clout 'til May is out'.  So  I drew a pic about that when I got back, I posted it today.   Art is great, I wouldn't be without it.  So let's keep at it...just  remember to keep your vests on 'til May is out.

Julie - fear not, there are two groups here - one is composed of painters, the other group is composed of ageing and disabled painters, and the two overlap.  Quite a few of us post about our various problems now and then, it's therapeutic - lets off steam.   Don't worry about being inappropriate - it's not.  If you can't have a quiet moan with your friends, well - what's the world coming to?
Thank you  for thatLewis. I'm feeling better now. Plus I have my orders from Sylvia to go paint! So it seems I must obey.
Thanks Robert. I do feel I am among friends. I've not felt this part of an art community in years. Kind words, thank you.
Julie never disobey Sylvia , be would be hell . A most  of us do we get absorbed paining , whilst it doesn’t necessarily cure anything it’s time out from what s happening around us, it’s your space to make what can or want of it .  My Shedio ( glorified he’d ) Its a no news zone and only music if I want it from some CD I have in there , definitely a cup of tea , in pain or just fed up it’s the place to go wind down . When I can’t paint or  sketch , as Lew is experiencing at the moment, it does make you feel down , but from long experience it does go away , I find it help not to dwell on the problem of not being in the painting mood . Spend time looking at the great artist you admire , I very rarely watch tv etc but enjoyed couple of old westerns recently , anything but worry about nit producing artwork as it’s the fretting that is mostly preventing you. Now this is what’s called rambling on Julie , something a few of us are good at on the forum as you will discover in time .
Thanks Paul. I'm a bit of a rambler too...as you've all experienced lol Nice words though and thanks for the warning of not obeying Sylvia. I'm about to pick a no. 4 up as we speak. X
That’s right Paul.  I’ve been looking at art docs on the BBC iPlayer, also re-reading some of my art books.  I’ve saved some of the inspiration threads to my ‘wall’, it saves you hunting for them.  Yesterday I read Jenny’s great thread on Railway Posters…a cracker.
That was a beauty of a thread Lew , it’s one of the ones I really enjoyed, mind you you have posted some cracking stuff yourself. I’m currently revisiting sone of the artists that inspired me when I first started painting, I’ve looked in at their work on and off over the years but not looked closely. I’ve rediscovered Rowland Hilder in particular his sketching I’d forgotten just how good he was , it’s inspired me to buy a pad just to sketch loose landscapes , mind you I have to say I’m also inspired by Alan Bickley his sketches are just superb. I’m luck enough to own a couple of Alan’s sketches along with a beautiful oil painting, would love a Hilder painting or sketch to go alongside them . When I worked in the mental health field I used art a lot in groups and individuals, often told how therapeutic it was , I’m now realising first hand just what and how much it was for some people.
Yes, the Railway poster thread was one of many where Dawn chipped in with suggestions.  That’s why we missing her contributions.   I agree about Alan, he’s an inspiration…one of the many artists on POL whose posts I look forward to.
