Once more, I didn’t agree with the judges’ decision - two points….I think you have to be brave and tackle the obvious ( in this case the rollercoaster) and some did. Secondly, the idea of the industrial side by side with nature is hardly new, though it was a beautiful painting. One more thing - who am I to criticise? It must be so hard to put yourself out there and do that.

I agree Jenny, Portmeirion should be good, certainly colourful! I wonder if this years idea is partly to make them tackle movement, as with the horse racing, and rollercoaster? Incidentally you wouldn’t see me anywhere near that rollercoaster - looked horrendous!
Marjorie I remember reading an account of the long day involved in taking part, (possibly in the Artist?) and as they have to turn up early in the morning, many would have to stay overnight, so it becomes a lot longer than the four hours we see.

There's what looks like a good critique of the show on the Making a Mark blog, by Kathleen Tyrell (sp?). I say "looks like", because after previous experience of most of these types of show, I wouldn't watch any of them again. One of the judges on this series is Tai-Shan Schierenberg, the other two are art "experts" who have either never wielded a brush in anger, or tried, and couldn't. If you're going to have non-painters judging, then at least pull them off the street rather than resort to the foetid wallow of the professional art market.
