I've read in one set of fleeting headlines that Ken Howard has died - am hoping this isn't true; if it is, it represents the loss of one of our finest artists.
I do hope not Robert, he’s one of my favourite artists! It would represent a great loss but I’ve looked at the news headlines and haven’t picked any confirmation up as yet!

Dawn has indeed confirmed that Ken Howard has passed away - what a great loss! I’m genuinely saddened by this news, as will be so many of us on here.

Sad news indeed such a great talent. His work is outstanding and always a pleasure to see.
Oh no.  One of my late Mum's favourites too.
I love all of Ken’s paintings, he handles light so well. But I particularly like his indoor studio paintings with models.
Thanks Dawn, a really enlightening article!
How very sad, when we discussed him recently, I found his studio paintings superb, the detailing in them, the window light, just beautiful. A real talent.
I’ve just heard that Fred Cuming RA died earlier this year, 11 June -  another fabulous artist and a great loss to the art world!

I was unaware that we had lost these two wonderful artists this year, very sad. I remember the discussion of Ken Howard’s work recently and his great studio paintings with that lovely big window giving such an impact.  I just had a look at Fred Coming’s website and there is a lovely 10 minute film made by the RA a few years ago in which he describes how he was given his first small set of oils as a youngster, and his thoughts about painting more recently. It’s very thoughtful and atmospheric and well worth a look.  www.fredcuming.com
Yes Tessa, it was myself who introduced Ken, a great loss indeed. I’ll have a look at that Fred Cuming film shortly, we’ve lost two of my favourite artists!
