Interesting to see the stages! The finished article is excellent, I’ve spotted it on the gallery. Skies are often dropped in as an afterthought… but they set the stage for the rest of the composition and determine the light source, and will have some bearing on your palette!

I never waste a canvas Peter😆 - It’s deciding which painting is for the chop! Alan, I was also using leftovers from the recent painting. Never waste paint either.

I waste more paint than I put on a canvas, and I use the top brands… so it is wasteful but it doesn’t concern me particularly. More recently, I have started to squeeze out less on my palette. But like today, I’ve started a new painting and as always, lay out my usual 10 or so colours. Most of which I may not use in this painting, but I want them there on hand just in case I do. Talking of skies, as we were earlier, and admiring Marjorie’s splendid work, I’ve got a really dramatic one shaping up nicely on a fairly large elongated stretched canvas… I’m working on my final painting for the TALP competition, deadline is looming at mid February! That makes four new ones, I’ll decide which to enter later, or maybe all of them!

I spotted this on the gallery earlier. Fascinating to see the process and development from your cast off. I find it really interesting to see the new image appear while the original disappears.
