We were all shocked and saddened to hear yesterday of the death of the wonderful artist, regular contributor to The Artist and our editorial consultant Jason Bowyer NEAC, RP, PS. He will be greatly missed. As a tribute to him I will be adding his brilliant article on making and using a reed pen to the techniques and tips page of POL in the next few days. I am sure many of you will have enjoyed his articles and beautiful artworks. A sad loss indeed.
So sorry to hear the loss of a truly talented man. His masterclass was a wonderful inspiration. I still have that April issue, and enjoyed reading and following the instruction for reed cutting. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Well that is sad news indeed. I've always enjoyed reading his interesting articles and I particularly remember the reed pen one. After reading how to make these reed pens and seeing his illustrations with it, I just had to give it a go. Courtesy of the forum I was able to locate some dry reeds from Fiona. I subsequently wrote a letter to the LP about my own experience making and drawing with them, which the editor kindly published. I still have lots of fun using them, and I'm sure that others will do also if perhaps they didn't see his article. A sad loss to the art world.
I asked permission before posting this verse. for Jason— winter twilight... our friend has set sail to an unknown shore

Very sad to hear about Jason, he was really talented.
Didn't know this guy, but it's always sad to see fellow companions pass on. Comisserations to his friends and family and may God rest his soul. R.I.P.
