Why does the topic listed on the right often appear to be from years ago when there has been a listing or comment just recently? It looks like the water colour section hasn't had a post for nine years which is clearly ridiculous.

If you look at the watercolour section it shows a post I started 29 day ago , the one you have shown must have been recently commented on and it brought to the top . I think it’s the date a topic was actually created but not 100% sure.

It gives a totally false impression. The thread was begun 10 years ago and the last post was 9 years ago so why on earth is it suddenly appearing like this?  Your recent post should be the one appearing on the index Paul.

The forum's greater mysteries  are closed to me, but - if a spammer posts on an old thread, as they sometimes do, it brings it back up.  If we get to the spam before the system detects it, or before someone has reported it, the spam post won't show as a deleted item.   There have been several recent spam posts which, fortuitously, I noticed before anyone had reported them; so that is probably the explanation.  Or someone else deleted one or more of them - same result ensues.

I recently removed some spam and banned the person , it could have been on that thread as that tends to bring things up to the top of the list , I can’t recall what thread it was on. Wrote this before reading Roberts response, looks like we were both removing spammers .

Count me in also… I did remove and ban a spammer on that topic the other day - flogging house painting no less… Little gets past us moderators these days!
