One thing always stands out on POL , it’s the encouragement and support we give each other despite our own limitations, ailments and disability . We are all individuals who are passionate about our artwork, it’s so easy to become insular and inward looking but we don’t , I don’t know if any other site has the same friendly community as this one . Thank you all for being yourselves and supporting each other it really is encouraging and certainly helps to keep one plodding on .

Thanks Lew , but I honestly can’t lay any claim to be inspirational what I hope is that by posting this it might help someone else .
It’s finished a long last seems to have been around for ever I can’t remember any other piece that’s taken me this long to complete. Do I like it , mmmm not to sure as yet but I has grown on me during the process of making it, it’s so different for me and I’m being hypercritical about how it’s gone . What I have achieved is learning his I can use my hand better despite the difficulties and how to be a bit more patient with myself so nothing lost but a lot gained .
I will do a few more exercises and experiment for a while before deciding if I want to plod on with this style, I’ve had some positive feedback and that’s always helpful.
I’m dedicating this to you lovely people for your support, encouragement, and putting up with me , thanks folks .

I have been reading this with interest. I am really impressed with what you are producing, Paul, under such difficult conditions. You are right to persevere and remain positive.
I too have hand problems. I had a tumour in my arm which resulted in surgery to remove a nerve. My hand was saved due to the miracles of modern surgery but it left me with numbness in my 3rd and 4th fingers and very poor grip. While I was recovering from surgery I painted with my non dominant hand. I couldn't achieve much detail and what I produced was certainly different from the art I do now. Interestingly, one of the artists on the Sky Arts Masterclass used painting with his non dominant hand as a way of warming up before painting a portrait. These days I seem drawn towards more detailed work, even though I know I don't have the hand control to achieve very fine detail. I don't know why this is, perhaps it is the challenge? It is all a journey and as long as we are still developing and enjoy what we are doing what does it matter?

Your artwork is excellent Lynda , do have a go at the detailing I’m sure you will adapt how you work .
If we let our body and mind work together without all the preconceived notions about how thing should or should not be done we will come up with ways of overcoming many disabilities. My view is sod it ( stronger language sometimes used) I’m going to do it and if it’s rubbish ( crap as an alternative) so what at least I have given it a go . It’s this very reason I started paint initially , and why I decided to post this particular painting as a work in progress hoping it might be encouraging to someone.
