As we look towards the remembrance of the Normandy Landings tomorrow, we have put together a few examples of articles from 1940s issues of The Artist, plus a look at the effects of WWII on the world of art, a brief look at the life of official war artist Anthony Gross and the opportunity to download and read a scanned issue of the September 1944 issue of The Artist. Thanks Team I will certainly have a good look and pick up on any artist for the Inspiration threads . If you would like any names added please let me know , with hindsight we could have done a special week , as usual the thought comes to late .

If I can remember a name - I'd like to see some of his articles; F C Johnson, was it?  A former editor of Leisure Painter.  I had a book of his which I gave to an aspiring oil painter years ago, and would like to have a reminder of his methods: because I recall him as a very effective teacher.
